synopsis=It is a distant galaxy, in the far future year, 10191. Arrakis is a desert planet and the only source of Melange, a vital drug used by Guild Navigators for space travel from star system to star system. Two families, the Atreides and the Harkonnens, fight one another for sole control of the Melange mining operations on Arrakis. When Duke Leto Atreides is assassinated by the evil Baron Harkonnen, Duke Leto's son, Paul, and Paul's mother, the Lady Jessica, flee deep into the desert of Arrakis. There, they are befriended by the Fremen, natives of Arrakis. Under the influence of Melange, Paul learns he has special powers and, that he can see into the future. Paul unites the Freman under his leadership, forms an army of warriors, and leads them into battle against Baron Harkonnen and the corrupt Padishah Emperor, Shaddam IV, who is in league with the Harkonnens. It is awful. br> David Lynch, perhaps the most emotional director in the world, couldn't do it. Why? Well, David Lynch normally makes films which unfold in "the back yard" i.e. next door. His films are always about what takes place next door, and inside the human mind.
Dune, is a commercial film. It is ripped of all emotions for the art of film. And it does NOT follow the real story by Frank Herbert, which is really sad, because it is actually good.
Therefore, if you are going to watch a David Lynch film: DON'T WATCH DUNE.

Paul did an admirable job of pulling out the victory against Feyd. but l suspect that if Paul had allowed Gurney Halleck to fight him, he would have just absolutely mopped the floor with his Harkonnen ass. This is the best available version of this movie, better than all official versions. one of the best fan edits ever! grab it while you can. A great film, read the trilogy. Dune trailer 2020. Sting's hair was done PERFECTLY in this movie. Like something straight out of anime. Very authentic. I can't wait for the remake. And that says a LOT because I am sick of remakes. Dunelm sale.
